Abstract

A transition matrix method commonly used in dealing with the problems of either plane-wave scattering from or the Green's function of multi-layered generalized anisotropic media is found inadequate in numerical implementation, when the waves are evanescent in the vertical direction of the structures. A recursive variable transformation method is developed, where all the exponentially-growing terms associated with exponential-matrix method are normalized. The new scheme is suitable for the numerical analysis of generalized anisotropic layers including ferrites, magneto-plasmas, chiral, and magneto-electric materials. Examples of the applications of the method are given. >
