Abstract
This paper presents a numerical method to analyze the two-phase condensing flow in a double-pipe condenser. A semi-implicit finite-difference scheme is used to solve the governing equations together with the constitutive relations. The calculated results for local wall heat flux and overall pressure drop agree well with experimental data. The vapor superheat is found to have a profound effect on the heat transfer and pressure characteristics. The wall heat flux and the pressure gradient increase with increasing vapor superheat, while the volumetric condensation rate decreases.
