Abstract

A general method for studying delamination in elastic composites is presented. The method is exemplified for cases where the delamination is thin compared to the substrate and where the two layers are isotropic, though having different elastic constants. This is no general restriction, however. In this method, delamination is modelled as an interface crack tip and important aspects are interface fracture criteria and methods for identification of interface crack fronts.
