Abstract

In the present work, we describe a simple and template-free preparation method of silicon oxide nanowires (SiOx-NWs) and silicon oxide nanotubes (SiOx-NTs) from a reactive ladder polyhydrosilsesquioxane (H-LPSQ) precursor. SiOx-NWs and SiOx-NTs were synthesized in large scale by high temperature (1100°C) reaction of ladder HLPSQ on silicon wafer substrate under wet hydrogen and argon (nitrogen) atmosphere. The SiOx-NWs and SiOx-NTs have a uniform diameter and long length. The as-prepared SiOx-NWs exhibits a particular white light emission rather than blue or green light emission found before. Keywords: Ladder polysilsesquioxanes, nanotubes, nanowires, silicon oxide, chemical vapor deposition (CVD), anodic aluminium, carboxylate crystals, sol-gel, Eclipse spectrometer, Si-OH groups, calorimetry, lamella
