Abstract

A kind of novel transient electric field sensor is presented in this paper. The sensor is based on the microstrip structure set on a shielding box. The excitation signal can be recovered by numerical processing of the output signal. The simulated result shows the bandwidth of the sensor covers from DC to 2.1 GHz. Moreover, both the simulated results and the measured results show that the recovered waveform is in good agreement with the excitation waveform. This kind of sensor can be used to capture the transient electric field with the rise time of several nanoseconds.
