Abstract
A novel metal-organic coordination polymer, [Ni 2(dipic) 2(4,4′-bpy)4(H 2O)]·4H 2O (H 2dipic=pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid), has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, TG and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Blue crystals crystallized in the monoclinic system, space group P2 1/ c, a=10.582(2) Å, b=20.246(4) Å, c=7.2501(15) Å, β=105.73(3)°, V=1495.0(5) Å 3, Z=2 and R=0.0377. The structure of the compound exhibits a novel three-dimensional supramolecular network, formed by hydrogen-bonding and π–π stacking interactions. Interestingly, the three-dimensional network consists of one-dimensional trapezoid channels, which accommodate lattice water molecules.
