Abstract
Substation network composed by sophisticated Ethernet bridges is one of the key components of smart substation constructed with IEC 61850 protocol. With the rise of voltage level of substations, more difficulty the configuration and maintenance of substation network arise following. To facilitate quantities of network configuration and visualize the opaque network transmission logic, a novel auto-routing technology based on Substation Configuration Description (SCD) file is developed to make the substation network operation and maintenance work easier and more intuitively. It offers a plug-and-play capability for substation network to let Intelligent Electric Device (IED) to be accessed freely, due to the related forwarding table was generated automatically via the subscription association information defined by SCD file. Implementation of auto-routing and use cases are provided to illustrate the application of this novel substation networking methodology, as the user's guideline.
