Abstract
A novel microstrip spoof surface plasmon polaritons(SSPPs) based on tilted grooves is proposed in the letter. Compared with the reported traditional SSPPs, the proposed SSPPs structures with a tilted grooves can support the surface SSPP wave with a larger propagation constant, which implies an enhanced field confinement in the microstrip SSPPs structure. In addition, simulation demonstrates that the wave confinement performance can be well maintained when the grooves tilt from 0 to 60 degrees, therefore, different polarization can be easily realized when the proposed SSPPs is employed as radiating structure. To verify performance of the proposed structure, the units with 45-degree-titled grooves are simulated. The simulated results have clearly validated the characteristic of the proposed designs, which possibly open a new avenue in designing various multi-polarization planar plasmonic antenna and elements in microwave and optical regimes.
