Abstract

Abstract Nanocrystalline, KNbO3 and NaNbO3 were synthesized, relatively at a lower temperature, by a new soft-chemical route involving a nitrate-tartarate precursor. The Nb2O5 was initially converted to niobium-tartarate, which was used as an autoreductant. The products were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) for phase identification and morphology, respectively. The phase analysis by XRD revealed both the products to be orthorhombic. The crystallite size from XRD data was found to be about 65 nm, which was in good agreement with TEM data.
