Abstract

A unique hook-shaped conformal metal strip has been used to excite a cylindrical multilayer dielectric resonator antenna (DRA). By using the proposed unique feed and multi dielectric layers, a broadband circular polarization have been achieved over a bandwidth of ∼9.8% in conjunction with an impedance-matching bandwidth of ∼12.8% at same frequency range. The DRA has been successfully designed and excited by using computer simulation technology (CST), a 3D simulation tool. The antenna prototype has been designed and simulated using Finite Integration Technique (FIT). The results have been validated by using different simulation technique i.e. Finite Element Method (FEM). A good agreement between the results from FIT and FEM has been achieved which guarantees the validity of the proposed design.
