Abstract

This paper proposes a novel single-metal-layer miniaturized-element frequency selective surface (MEFSS) design and a new concept for the fulfillment of this design. In addition to the simple need for a metal layer printed on a very thin substrate, the MEFSS period can be even smaller than nine percent of the wavelength, at the specified resonant frequency. Further, the newly proposed MEFSS shows a superior resonance stability performance with respect to different polarizations and incidence angles. Both band-pass and band-stop MEFSS prototypes were created and tested. The simulated and measured results prove the stated accomplishment.
