Abstract
A novel sine cosine approach (NSCA) is presented to solve emission/economic load dispatch (EELD) problem. The EELD is solved for single and multi-objective frameworks. The multiple objectives cases have been converted into single objective by the weighted sum method. The proposed NSCA begins with a population of random solutions where these solutions are updated to obtain an approximated optimal solution in single objective case or a set of solutions named Pareto optimal solutions in multiple objectives case. Also, the mechanism for updating is modified such that the searching in the opposite direction is exploited. By this modification the balance between the exploration search and exploitation ability can be enhanced. The validation on three test systems is investigated as well as the comparison with other approaches is reported. The comparisons demonstrate that the robustness of the proposed NSCA in solving EELD problem. The results lead to acceptable economic and environmental benefits compared to previous optimization methods.
