Abstract

There are different pulse width modulation (PWM) techniques used in inverter control and operation to get variable quality output voltage. Traditionally different PWM methods are having separate strategies to generate gating pulses for the power electronics switches in the inverter that can result better harmonic reduction in the inverter output. Understanding the principles of all the techniques by the concerned students' community becomes difficult. In this paper the common PWM techniques viz. single-pulse, multiple pulse, sinusoidal, third harmonic injection PWM techniques are abridged in a single SIMULINK model to analyze them separately. The analysis will give comparative characteristics of all the PWM techniques including the harmonic profile through FFT analysis.
