Abstract

In this article, a novel scheme is presented for single-carrier wireless burst transmission. The frame format is proposed, which contains training sequence and some data sub-blocks with guard intervals. The training sequence is used for carrier recovery and channel estimation. The unique words are inserted between data sub-blocks as guard intervals to eliminate inter symbol interference (ISI). The forward timing recovery is applied to obtain the optimal sampling point and single-carrier frequency domain equalization (SC-FDE) is employed to combat the impairment caused by multipath. Simulation results are also presented, which indicate that the proposed scheme attains a good performance in White Gaussian Noise channels and multipath fading channels.
