Abstract

ABSTRACT We present a droplet formation process as a novel route for the particle size enlargement of fine powders. The aqueous slurry process provides significant control over final particle size distribution, shape, porosity, and strength. The slurry process is suitable for the agglomeration of a wide range of materials, including ceramics and metals. In particular, mixtures of materials can be combined to form homogeneous particles. The process is of relevance to a number of areas, including milling, die compaction, heterogeneous catalysis, and solid phase synthesis.
