Abstract

In this paper, a sliding mode speed control scheme associated with an original fuzzy disturbance observer (FDO) is presented for the permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) control system with various disturbances. In order to overcome the main drawback of traditional sliding mode control, that is, large control effort and chattering, and meanwhile, enhance the robustness of the system, a FDO with an original adaptive law is constructed. The FDO, which is used to approximate the disturbances based on the universal approximation property, possesses not only high approximation accuracy, but also fast approach velocity. The stability of the proposed control system is proved by Lyapunov theory. The experimental results verify that the proposed FDO can approach the disturbance rapidly with regard to external load disturbance and parameter variations, and the proposed control scheme can achieve favorable tracking performance without chattering.
