Abstract

A novel uni-planar electromagnetic Band-Gap (EBG) scheme is presented for size reduction, the proposed structure can be considered as an ameliorated uni-planar compact EBG (UC-EBG) in a spiral shape which significantly enlarges the fringe capacitance to compress the overall size of unit cell. Its design is detailed in this paper, and several experimental results are presented, the more compact properties of the proposed Spiral UC-EBG are examined, as compared with that of the conventional UC-EBG.
