Abstract

IEEE 802.16j mobile multi-hop relay network is proposed to enhance the system coverage, user throughput and the capacity of fixed/mobile broadband wireless access system in IEEE 802.16d/802.16e. Relay station (RS) enables data transmission between base station and end user when the channel is not good for transmission. Besides, one relay station also communicates with a pair of other relay stations to accomplish the communication via multi-hop relay path. An efficient scheme for path selection and per user throughput in the multi-hop relay network is an important issue to fulfill the purpose of a relay station. In this paper, we proposed a cross-layer tree based path construction mechanism to adjust the system deployment when new mobile station (MS) access to the network. Furthermore, an interference based path selection scheme is suggested to facilitate the improvement of per-user throughput as well as system throughput in multi-hop relay network. Simulation on OPNET shows our mechanism achieves significant progress in system throughput and efficiency of transmission.
