Abstract

The temperature sense system of photonic crystal liquid crystal fiber grating used on temperature measure for power system electric contact is presented based on the narrow band filtering of the photonic crystal fiber(PCF) and helix liquid crystal pitch sensitive to temperature. The system is consisted of the broadband optic source, liquid crystals filling photonic crystal temperature sensor, fiber filter, signal amplification and amplifier, and display module. The electric contact temperature may be real-time measured based on the wavelength of the maximum optical power point change of photonic crystal which the helix liquid crystals filled in, wavelength changed represented by fiber filter, the relation of liquid crystal pitch with temperature, and data processing. The sense system is special suit to the power system electric contact temperature on-line detection as it has the perspective of the intrinsically safe, high precision, high electrical insulation and anti-electromagnetic interference.
