Abstract
A novel environmentally benign condensation of 5,7‐dihydroxy‐4‐methylcoumarin, aryl aldehydes, and ethyl cyanoacetate in the presence of silica sodium carbonate (SSC) has been developed for the synthesis of new pyrano[2,3‐h]coumarins.
