Abstract

Using meta-heuristic algorithms, such as harmony search (HS) algorithms are commonly used in many engineering fields. In this paper, we proposed a novel multiuser detector (MUD) for direct sequence-code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems. The detector is based on one of the HS algorithm versions called global-best harmony search (GHS) algorithm. The GHS algorithm is easy to be applied in DS-CDMA systems and needs fewer tunable parameters. Simulation results show that the proposed method offers much lower computational complexity than the optimum multiuser detector (OMD) and provides better performance over the conventional detector (CD) and detectors based on the harmony search algorithm (HS) and improved harmony search (IHS) algorithm.
