Abstract
An 8-element microstrip antenna array fed with composite right/left-handed transmission line (CRLH-TL) structure is designed and tested. The simulation results indicate that the novel array has advantages of small size and compacter structure as well as broad frequency bandwidth, because of utilizing the positive phase delay of CRLH-TL in a certain frequency band. The experimental data verified the theoretical predictions, the antenna array is of more than 18% effective area reduction compared with a conventional patch antenna array and with a good broad bandwidth of 7%
