Abstract

Fracture fixation methods in rabbits are similar to those in other mammals. However, the relatively small size of the patient, lack of surrounding soft tissue coverage near the extremities, and relatively thin cortices, are complicating factors. External skeletal fixation was selected here as a novel method of fracture repair, and a tubular FESSA (Fixateur Externe du Service de Santé des Armées: French Army External Fixator) bar connector was utilised. The use of this method has not been previously described in the rabbit.
