Abstract

A new method by which to determine the particle density of porous aeratable powders has been developed. It depends on measuring the expansion of a gas-fluidized bed of the powder in the region of gas velocity between the points of minimum fluidization and minimum bubbling and applying the Richardson-Zaki equation to the measurements. Excellent agreement is found between the results of the new method and those obtained by other, generally less convenient, techniques.
