Abstract

In this study, 6 kinds of coarse recycled concrete aggregate (RCA), prepared from laboratory-made concrete mixtures with three w/c ratios and containing two different natural aggregates as well as a commercial coarse RCA were investigated. In addition to absorption capacity, mortar content, porosity and pore structure of coarse RCAs were determined by 3-dimensional Micro-CT analysis. The water absorption of RCA was found to increase with the increase of the parent concrete water/cement ratio. Micro-CT analysis result showed that the aggregate, mortar and impermeable porosity of RCAs were in the range of 64–70%, 28–32%, and 1–3%, respectively.
