Abstract
A numerical model has been developed in order to characterize the kinetics of electrochemical nucleation processes using chronoamperometric techniques. The main purpose has been to overcome the limitations of the Scharifker-Mostany model which is currently used to determine kinetics parameters and to reproduce current density profiles. The proposed model was validated using chronoamperometric data obtained for copper nucleation on gold electrodes in CuSO4 - H2SO4 solutions at pH 1.0, 25 ºC with 0.05 M copper concentrations for overpotentials in the range -100 and -300 mV.
