Abstract

A natural based magnetic catalyst (nano-Fe3O4@Saponin/Cr(III)) was synthesized using CrCl3.6H2O compounds on a nano-Fe3O4@Saponin surface as a novel recyclable magnetic catalyst. Nano-Fe3O4@Saponin/Cr(III (has been synthesized by coprecipitation of salts of Fe3+ and Fe2+ via eco-friendly solvent in saponin. Structural, morphological, and magnetic features of the synthesized novel catalyst were characterized by various methods like energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma (ICP), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It is totally accepted that heterogeneous catalysts show appropriate efficiency in synthesizing three-component reactions among 4-hydroxycoumarin, aromatic aldehydes, and amides under eco-friendly solvent, at 80 °C. The procedure presented in this paper is an eco-friendly one that provides so many benefits such as higher yield, easier work-up, simply recovered by magnetic decantation, short reaction time, reusability for multiple and consecutive reactions without remarkable activity reduction.
