Abstract
In this paper, a left-handed metamaterial (LHM) with broad bandwidth is proposed. The center of the frequency band where the LHM is applicable is tunable. It can solve the problem of bianisotropy. The reflection and transmission characteristics of the LHM are simulated. The effective permittivity and effective permeability are extracted from the transmission and reflection data at normal incidence for the LHM proposed here. The results show its maximal relative bandwidth is 63.5% when the real part of the effective permittivity and effective permeability are both negative in the 9.35 - 18.05 GHz band range.
