Abstract

A novel Keggin-type molybdophosphate-based hybrid containing left- and right-handed helical chains, {Ag[H2(3-bptzh)](PMo12O40)}·H2O (1) [3-bptzh=1,6-bis(5-(3-pyridyl)-tetrazolyl)hexane], has been synthesized under hydrothermal condition, and characterized by IR spectra, elemental analyses, single crystal X-ray diffraction and powder X-ray diffraction. The helix metal-organic chain [AgH2(3-bptzh)]n3+ is constructed from the flexible 3-bptzh ligands and Ag atoms, on which [PMo12O40]3− polyoxoanions are hanged via AgO bonds. The structural feature is fascinating and scarcely reported in POM-based complexes. The electrochemical, fluorescent and photocatalytic properties of the title compounds have been investigated. Additionally, the polypyrrole (PPy) composite material of 1 (PPy/1) has been prepared by loading polypyrrole on the surface of compound 1, which shows excellent photocatalytic activities for degradation of organic dyes under visible light irradiation.
