Abstract

In this paper, a high data rate (HDR) Prerake direct sequence ultra-wideband (DS UWB) system is proposed. In the HDR Prerake DS UWB system, the Prerake filter is the complete reverse of channel impulse response. The high data rate is achieved by superposing the chip waveforms. The desired signal energy captured in the HDR Prerake DS UWB system is equivalent to the conventional Rake maximal ratio combining (MRC) on all paths independent of the data rates. We derive the signal model in terms of composite channel response and symbol sequence. The effect of inter-chip interference and inter-symbol interference is clearly shown. The bit error rate (BER) formula is derived based on the signal model. The BER formula is verified by simulation results. It is shown that the proposed HDR Prerake DS UWB system significantly outperforms the Partial-Prerake DS UWB system in high data rate scenario.
