Abstract
A novel heteroleptic gold(I) complex, [NHC-Au-(S-Mt)2], which is supported by a mono-dentate N-heterocyclic carbene and a sulphur donor borate ligand has been synthesized. All reaction products (1–5) were characterized using 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. Structural analysis of the heteroleptic 5 was carried out using density functional theory, confirming a two-coordinated metal complex with an internal Au···H-B interaction. The anticancer activity of 5 and its precursor, 4, was investigated on MCF-7 and SH-SY5Y cells. IC50 values are compared with cisplatin, among which antiproliferative effects of 4 and 5 are higher than cisplatin.
