Abstract

A novel technique for field oriented control of a separately excited synchronous motor, to achieve speed control, employing a unique position sensor, is presented. This control scheme achieves field orientation from zero speed to above base speed without the use of expensive speed encoders or microprocessors. Experimental results obtained on a 2.2 kW salient pole synchronous motor are presented. Relevant simulation results of the above control scheme are also presented. >
