Abstract

Compared with linearly polarized light, circularly polarized light can hardly cause the cross coupling effect during transmission. Therefore, it is important to study chiral fibers for optical fiber communication and optical fiber sensing. However, the requirements in structural chiral fiber fabrication raise its cost. In the paper, we demonstrated the entire fiber fabrication method of dielectric chiral fiber. This is the first fabrication of long dielectric chiral fiber. We also measured key optical properties of the chiral material. The value of fabricating dielectric chiral fiber is demonstrated by its physical implementation and good performance in circular polarization maintaining characteristic. The fiber fabrication method is expected to provide a solution for low cost. Moreover, the dielectric chiral fiber supplies the potential application of dielectric chiral fiber for optical fiber communication and optical fiber sensing.
