Abstract

The dynamic spectrum allocation and power control algorithms are investigated in multi-hop cognitive radio networks. For the purpose of consideration about fairness among secondary users, we propose a novel resource allocation algorithm which encompasses the channel allocation and power control with the interference for primary users constrained below a tolerable limit. The proposed scheme favors higher priority to the weaker secondary routes in which the transmitting nodes have least idle channels. Thereby, the capability of data transmission in the ‘bottleneck’ node is improved after obtaining the heuristic solution of channel and power allocation. Numerical results show that our proposed algorithm outperforms the traditional spectrum assignment algorithms on the performance of both the minimum bandwidth of secondary routes and the number of connected multi-hop routes. The better fairness is achieved through our proposed algorithm among the secondary users.
