Abstract

Wavelength-Division multiplexing (WDM) have been proved to be the most promising candidate technology to build the next generation all optical networks. In WDM network, the wavelength conversion can greatly improve the network blocking performance and decrease the analyzing complexity in routing and wavelength assignment problems simultaneously. But most of the already existed routing algorithms are designed for the Wavelength-selective WDM network without wavelength conversion and in this paper we make a study on the routing problem in WDM network which is with wavelength conversion. In this paper, we first proposed one mathematic analyzing model to introduce two new concepts named Link Occupied Probability and Link Potential Traffic Load. These two factors are very crucial to impact the network's performance but all the exited routing algorithms do not take them into account at all. And based on this model, one new dynamic routing algorithm named LOPF is proposed. The simulation result proves that our Link Occupied mathematical model matches the really behavior of the WDM network links and based on this model, our proposed LOPF routing algorithm is better than other heuristic routing algorithms.
