Abstract
This paper presents a novel dual-mode dielectric resonator filter with simple structure and wide suppression based on half-mode resonator. The filter is mainly composed of a rectangular metal cavity with a coupling window and two dielectric resonators. The dielectric resonators are on the bottom of the cavity and excited by a probe placed on the top of the dielectric block. Since the dielectric resonator is short-circuited at its bottom, it is equivalent to using the half-mode resonance of the dielectric resonator to design the filter. The dual-mode characteristics is realized by properly placing the feeding probe. The window is used for the coupling between the two dielectric resonators. In order to verify the design concept, a four-order filter based on the dual-mode dielectric resonator is designed. The final simulation shows that the proposed filter has high selectivity and wide suppression.
