Abstract

A novel fluorescent probe 4-(4′-(2-cyano-3-ethoxy-3-oxoprop-1-en-1-yl)- [1,1′-biphenyl]-4-yl)-2,2-difluoro-7,7-dimethyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-2H-6,8-methanobenzo[d][1,3,2]dioxaborinin-1-ium-2-uide (CEFN) had been designed and developed for discriminative detection of N2H4 and HSO3− with two different sets of colorimetric and ratiometric fluorescence signals. The novel dual-response fluorescent probe CEFN can discriminative detect N2H4 and HSO3− with high selectivity, good sensitivity and fast response time. The response behaviors of probe CEFN for N2H4 and HSO3− were ascribed to different sensing mechanisms, which were investigated in detail by 1H NMR, HRMS spectra. Furthermore, the probe CEFN could be served as a novel method for tracking N2H4 and HSO3− in living cells.
