Abstract

A novel design of the dispersion compensating optical fiber amplifier (DCFA) for the dense wavelength division multiplexed (DWDM) fiber-optic link is proposed. The negative dispersion is within ±2.75 ps/km-nm from central wavelength in the wavelength region of 1.54 μm to 1.58 μm. The nonlinearity effect in the fiber optic link has been reduced by making the effective area of the fiber-core high. The DWDM optical fiber link using this DCFA has been also proposed.
