Abstract

This paper presents the theory and design of coupled resonant systems for wireless power transmission (WPT) system for the next generation electrical power transfer application. A detailed analysis and experimental design of solenoid and spiral coil based wireless power transmitter and receivers are addressed. Experimentally, it is found that the power transfer efficiency reaches the maximum at resonant frequency, and the efficiency decrease with the increase of the distance between the source transmitter and receiver coils. The performance of the proposed WPT has been studied and a laboratory model is developed for experimental verification. The results show that spiral based WPT system shows better results.
