Abstract

In recent years, environmental concerns and energy crisis have become serious issues. This has shifted much focus towards the solar energy which is green and renewable. In order to solve the shortcomings of low utilization, low automation and high cost of the traditional photovoltaic system, we propose an automatic tracking and maximum power output device for silicon photocell. The system is composed of solar automatic tracking device, maximum power point tracking (MPPT) system (controlled by STM32) and monitoring system based on Zigbee wireless. The solar automatic tracking device adopts four-quadrant photoelectric detection mode, realizes omni-directional and high-precision biaxial automatic tracking through logic circuit judgment, and makes maximum use of solar energy. The four-switch Buck-Boost circuit is used as the main circuit to realize wide range adjustment and synchronous rectifier control, which is combined with soft-switching technology to greatly improve the conversion efficiency of the system. ZigBee network monitoring system takes CC2530 as the node of transceiver. Results of testing showed, that solar automatic tracking device can track the solar trajectory with high precision and realize the maximum utilization rate of light intensity. The tracking accuracy of MPPT controller reached 99%, and the conversion efficiency also improved greatly, up to 98%. The monitoring system based on Zigbee wireless worked stably. In summary, the device effectively improves the utilization rate of solar energy. The simple structure and low cost make it of great practical value in engineering.
