Abstract

Conventional LCL filter design only takes harmonic attenuation and active power loss for consideration. However, reactive power characteristic of the LCL filter is normally ignored in design procedure. On the one hand, imrupted selection of inductor and capacitor may result in worse filtering, additional inductive reactive power production, and low power factor. On the other hand, reactive power compensation capability could be realised by the proper design of filter to appear capacitive characterisitc. A multi-objective optimal design method is proposed for LCL filter, including the formulation of ripple, harmonic, active power loss, and reactive power support capability. Popullation based algorithm is used for solving the problem. Theoretical and simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method can achieve great filtering and the compensation expectation.
