Abstract
Degradation and removal of organic dyes from industries' wastewater have attracted great attention these days due to the water shortage crisis. In this work, a novel dark catalyst material based on Fe3O4/MWCNT/SiO2 magnetic nanocomposite was introduced. Fe3O4/MWCNT/SiO2 nanocomposites were synthesized by a facile, simple, rapid, and one-pot synthesis method by an ultrasonic probe. The prepared Fe3O4/MWCNT/SiO2 magnetic nanocomposites were characterized by different analyses such as; XRD, Raman, TEM, FESEM, FT-IR, Zeta, and EDS analyses. The dark catalyst results showed that Fe3O4/MWCNT/SiO2 magnetic nanocomposites had excellent dark catalyst ability and they could degrade methylene blue (MB) dyes completely (100 %) from water in an ultrafast process (30 s). The obtained results showed that the degradation efficiency decreased in acidic media. The radical scavengers experiment results confirmed that electrons play a key role in the degradation of MB dye by Fe3O4/MWCNT/SiO2 magnetic nanocomposites.
