Abstract

This letter presents a novel current source PWM rectifier/inverter topology which has low input current harmonics and high input displacement factor, for high-power induction motor drive applications. A suitable PWM specific harmonic elimination (PWM-SHE) switching pattern is developed in order to just eliminate the 11th and 13th harmonics, required by the proposed topology. A genetic algorithm and the conjugate gradient descent method are combined to solve the nonlinear transcendental functions for PWM-SHE. This scheme converges quickly.
