Abstract

ABSTRACT The success of any small-scale business depends on its online presence and visibility. An objective measure for Search Engine Optimisation techniques will help small business adopt effective optimisation strategies. Existing performance measures for SEO focus on traditional search algorithms that work on websites catering to a global audience. This paper presents a novel approach for assessing a website’s online performance following the implementation of local SEO strategies. In this study, we have calculated CIS for 8 businesses and show the correlation between the increase in CIS to the actual improvement in business performance. Using the CIS small businesses can now measure the performance of their SEO relative to their competitors and enhance their online visibility and customer engagement, ultimately driving success in the digital landscape.
