Abstract
The presence of antibiotic contaminants in water reservoirs and aquatic environments poses considerable risks to public and ecosystem health. Despite its high mineralization efficiency and environmental friendliness, photocatalytic technology has limited practical applications due to low energy efficiency, intermittent operation, and inconvenient catalyst recovery. Here, we developed a continuous-flow photocatalytic device (CFP-D) with outstanding activity, stability, and university towards antibiotic wastewater degradation. Complete removal of total organic carbon was achieved for multiple antibiotic wastewaters using CFP-D in a continuous flow process. The unique combination of continuous-flow reactor and highly photo-permeable F-Ti-SiO2 aerogel with abundant TiO5 active sites overcomes the limitations of conventional photocatalytic devices. This study provides new insights for the design of highly efficient monolithic catalysts and continuous flow reaction devices, and showcases the immense potential of CFP-D in medical and organic wastewater treatment.
