Abstract

Commercially available polyetheramines, called Jeffamines, ∗∗ and p-benzoquinone react smoothly in alcoholic solution to yield linear polymers with interesting properties. One particular polymer, the product of polyether amine D400 : p-benzoquinone = 2:3, can displace water from wet, rusty metal surfaces. After heat curing, it is non-wettable, resists autoclaving, salt water spray and most common organic solvents and does not ice.
