Abstract

Acoustic reflector localization is important in various domains of audio signal processing. Traditional methods of acoustic reflector localization have their own flaws. For instance, the image source method owns fast calculation speed but low localization accuracy, while the ellipse method says otherwise. Based on the image source method, this paper proposes a novel closed-form solution for acoustic reflector localization, which improves accuracy by maximum likelihood estimation. The proposed method is evaluated and compared with existing localization methods using simulation models with invariable positions of reflectors, microphone arrays and random locations of sources and additive Gaussian noise. Demonstrated by the results of simulation, localization accuracy of novel method is slightly higher than ellipse method and calculation speed of new method is much faster than ellipse method.
