Abstract

Two new configurations for the rectangular loop antenna are introduced in this work. The first is a "Vee" shaped loop and the second is a modification of the former to reduce sidelobes. It is shown that each loop must have a perimeter of 3/spl lambda/ or greater for improved performance. The method of moments with a polynomial expansion function was employed to determine the current distribution of the new antennas. Prototypes were built and measured, indicating good agreement with the computed results and showing a significant improvement over the usual geometries for loop antennas.
