Abstract

This paper reports a new fluorophore enhanced the chemiluminescence (CL) reaction between bis-(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl) oxalate (TCPO) and H2O2. Glutathione-coated cadmium telluride quantum dots (GSH-CdTe QDs) takes the place of conventional fluorescent dyes, acting as an acceptor by means of energy transform from the intermediate of 1,2-dioxetanedione to enhance the CL signal of TCPO-H2O2. The addition of phloroglucinol into the CL system caused significant quenching of luminescence intensity. Based on this, the CL system was developed as a novel flow-injection method for the determination of phloroglucinol simply and rapidly. A possible mechanism of the CL reaction was proposed according to the results of kinetic analyses, CL spectra, UV–visible and fluorescence spectra. Finally, the CL method was successfully applied to the detection of phloroglucinol in environmental water samples.
