Abstract

The design of a simple flexible multi-wavelength reconfigurable add-drop multiplexer (ROADM) based on the thin-film filter is presented. By the controlling of a stepping motor, the ROADM can add or drop one selective wavelength because the incident angle of the thin-film filter is changed. The crosstalk of the ROADM is analized and calculated in detail, and the theoretical analysis result is coincide with experimental result. The experiments show that the effective tunable range of the ROADM can cover the whole C-band, and its adjacent channel isolation degree is more than 35dB. It can be widely used in pratical optical channel switching networks.
